Mýto ski & bike

Since 2018, the MÝTO SKI & BIKE resort in Mýto pod Ďumbierom has been part of Hotel Partizán****.

Under the hands of the new owners, it gets a more modern look every year. We talked to Bc. Michal Kič about the history and future plans of the resort.

1. How did the idea of connecting Hotel Partizán**** with the ski resort in Mýto pod Ďumbierom come about?

Honestly, the idea came about much earlier than 2018. Already in the 90s, my father was approached for the first time if he would be interested in supporting TJ Mýto and operating the then ski area. Negotiations began, but no agreement was reached. The discussion reopened in 2011 when the owner of SKI Mýto was looking for a business partner. Unfortunately, we couldn't get involved because Hotel Partizán**** was undergoing the largest renovation in its history, which required a lot of financial resources. Simply put, we couldn't support another project at the time. As they say, third time's the charm. Finally, the right time came in 2018 when an agreement was reached and we became the new owners of this resort. The dream from the beginning was to have skiing as part of the services offered in our own ski center.

2. Since you took over Mýto ski & bike, you have made several investments. What have you achieved so far and what are your future plans?

Yes, the last investment in SKI Mýto was the launch of a chairlift in 2007. Since then, it has been undercapitalized and no new improvements have been made. We knew that many improvements needed to be made. We are constantly working to make Mýto ski & bike a 21st-century resort. So far, we have:

  • built a new beginner slope,
  • built new lifts in the lower and upper sections on the neglected right side of the slope,
  • started night skiing on a part of the slope that our visitors longed for,
  • leveled the slope so that the feared steep end of the main slope is now a thing of the past,
  • implemented the most modern ticket sales and new turnstiles in cooperation with the Austrian partner Axess,
  • optimized and expanded snowmaking - essentially transforming the snow-covering system into a snowmaking one,
  • adjusted water and electricity supplies due to increased consumption,
  • built new ticket office spaces,
  • improved the quality of services provided in the restaurant below the slope,
  • improved communication between employees and clients,
  • organized various types of events to fulfill our slogan: Kopec zábavy (Hill of Fun),
  • but most importantly - built a BIKE PARK, so the resort finally comes alive in the summer months as well.

This year, for the first time in the winter season, we will be selling tickets online through an e-shop, which we are currently working on. We can't wait for the new season to start, which will be a kind of test run. We plan to open on December 18, 2020, but everything will depend on the weather. We will have the opportunity to use all the new equipment we have purchased. In total, we have 28 snow cannons available, 23 of which are automatic. This means that they evaluate the weather conditions and adjust the snowmaking accordingly. We will use three new snow groomers and the Leica system to measure snow depth
